Dear Βι¶ΉΣ³» families,
As a Catholic learning community, we are dedicated to living out Gospel values by supporting those in need.
On October 17, organizations worldwide observe the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty to show solidarity with those in need and advocate for an end to poverty.
Sadly, during the current affordability crisis, many of our neighbours in York Region, including members of our school communities, are experiencing financial distress.
To help our neighbours in need, York Catholic is undertaking its first-ever International Day for the Eradication of Poverty fundraiser. On Thursday, October 17, schools with uniforms and standard dress will ask for loonie/toonie donations in exchange for a civies day. Schools with appropriate dress will organize a local initiative to support this excellent cause.
Βι¶ΉΣ³» staff, specifically the Attendance Counselling Service Team, will use the money raised to provide individualized support to help students attend school regularly. This fundraiser will also raise awareness about the issues surrounding poverty.
If you can donate to this fundraiser, many families in York Catholic will be most grateful for your support.
Yours in Catholic Education,Β
John De Faveri
Interim Director of Education
